Comfortable accommodation and warm hospitality The Area

Lyonshall, with its timber-framed houses, is part of the Herefordshire Black and White Village Trail. It is situated close to Kington, a small market town on the English/Welsh border mentioned in the Domesday Book. Kington Show, a traditional agricultural show with horse, cattle, sheep and poultry as well as horticultural and craft marquees, takes place every September.

The National Trust properties Croft Castle and Berrington Hall are nearby, and the county town of Hereford has many interesting places to visit, including the 11th century Cathedral with its chained library and Mappa Mundi. The border towns of Ludlow, Presteigne and Hay-on-Wye, all with annual arts, music and literature festivals, are within easy reach.

If you enjoy gardens, Hergest Croft, with over 4,000 rare shrubs and trees, is in Kington. For visitors with children, the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre has a collection of unusual birds and animals, all displayed to encourage a 'hands on' experience.

Feeling energetic? Kington Golf Course, the highest in England, offers golfers an outstanding experience with stunning views. We’re close to excellent walking routes, including the Offa’s Dyke and Mortimer long distance trails. The surrounding countryside is good for horse riding and cycling, and the Wye offers fishing and canoeing facilities. There is a swimming pool and gym in Kington which offers day membership rates.
